Crossroads #030: The Black Opry

Dead Man’s Cell Phone

Internal Review: NCMA Staff Exhibition

    • Opening Reception: Monday, February 3, 2025
    • Exhibition Dates: February 3 – May 18, 2025
    • Location: Potter Gallery, NCMA Winston-Salem (formerly SECCA)
    • Description: The North Carolina Museum of Art in Winston-Salem presents Internal Review: NCMA Staff Exhibition, featuring artwork from over 40 staff members across its Raleigh and Winston-Salem campuses. Showcasing a variety of disciplines like sculpture, photography, and music, the exhibition celebrates the creativity and diversity of the NCMA community. Visitors can also enjoy programs, performances, and tours curated by staff.

Join us for the Opening Reception on Monday, February 3, from 5 PM to 8 PM, featuring remarks at 5:45 PM and live performances by Hausson Byrd, Dan Ruccia, and Vel Indica starting at 6:15 PM. Attendance is free, and registration is encouraged.

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom

    • Location: Hanesbrands Theatre, Winston-Salem
    • Description: Experience the fiery passion of Ma Rainey, affectionately known as the “Mother of the Blues,” in this powerful production by The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem. Managing Life in the Shadows – The Unfortunates

    • Description: Presented by Spirit Gum Theatre Company, The Unfortunates transports audiences to the foggy and dangerous streets of London in 1888. Mary Jane Kelly is in a desperate situation—behind on her rent, with a broken window, no key, and a recent heartbreak. Poverty grips her tightly, leaving her just two grim choices to secure her safety. Amidst this turmoil looms the chilling presence of Jack the Ripper.
