What started as late-night, beer-fueled Tom Petty jam sessions eventually evolved into something far more compelling. Winston-Salem’s Crenshaw Pentecostal broke away from their backing band roots in 2017, when Dusty Redmon (Beloved/The Almost), Brian Norris (Ross Coppley/Deals on Bombs), and Zach Tilley set out to craft their own brand of dirty, Americana-tinged rock and roll. The addition of Jeremy Smith (John Mark McMillan/Thousand Dollar Movie) and Drew Ely (Eno Mountain Boys) rounded out a lineup that channels the raw energy of the Heartbreakers meeting the Replacements — a sound that’s earned them spots alongside Bon Jovi, Gin Blossoms, Old 97s, Futurebirds, and Tyler Bryant, among others. Catch them live at our Coalpit Live event, a free show on August 8 at 7PM at Incendiary Brewing Company.
