Winston Salem Dash Home Opener
Baseball season is back and the Winston Salem Dash home opener is coming up on Tuesday April 7 at 11:00 AM at Truist Stadium. This special “Education Day” game is perfect for families and school groups with fun educational activities lined up. The opening series runs through April 11, with weekday games kicking off at 6:30 PM.
Opening Week is a real treat, with themed promotions that add an extra layer of excitement to the game:

Bowman Gray Stadium Racing
Known as “NASCAR’s longest-running weekly track,” Bowman Gray Stadium kicks off its season on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Don’t miss Opening Night, featuring the Hayes Jewelers 200 Lap Modified Feature and a 40 Lap Sportsman Feature. Gates open at 6:00 PM and the high-energy racing starts at 8:00 PM. Cheer on your favorite drivers as they battle it out on this historic quarter-mile asphalt track.

UNCSA Improvised Music and Jazz Festival
Music lovers won’t want to miss the UNCSA Improvised Music and Jazz Festival on Friday, March 27, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in Downtown Winston Salem. Organized by Steve Alford, chair of the Jazz and Contemporary Department in the School of Music, this event brings in guest artists, regional high school and middle school bands, and talented UNCSA student musicians.
The festival features master classes, jam sessions, and a jazz celebration that showcases some of the best emerging and established talent. It’s the perfect chance to experience the rich musical heritage of our community and cheer on the next generation of jazz artists.
Live Music at The Ramkat
The Ramkat has a string of fantastic live music performances lined up this spring.
Eric Gales hits the stage on March 5 with his incredible guitar skills and soulful blues-rock sound. If you don’t know his work, you’re in for a treat. This guy is a master of the fretboard.
Aly & AJ roll into town on March 6 with their signature pop-rock sound and nostalgic hits that have captured the hearts of fans everywhere. These two sisters have the magic of catchy melodies and genuine songwriting down to a tee.
Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers come to town on April 15 as part of their Indigo Park Tour, featuring the legendary musician’s genre-blending style.
Melissa Etheridge: RISE will be at The Ramkat on April 19. Don’t miss this chance to see the iconic rock singer-songwriter perform live.

RiverRun International Film Festival
Don’t forget to pencil in the 28th RiverRun International Film Festival, running from April 17-25, 2026. This is a top-notch film festival that brings you over 175 screenings from around the world. We’re talking countries from every continent, from romance to sci-fi, drama to comedy! It’s the Southeast’s premier film festival.
Screenings are at venues in Winston Salem and Greensboro’s RED Cinemas, with virtual options available April 26-May 2 for those who just can’t make it in person. Unleash your creative side with a Taste of Art class at the Sawtooth School for Visual Art. These one-night workshops are perfect for a fun night out with friends or a unique date night. Held on Friday and Saturday evenings, the classes let you try your hand at everything from pottery and painting to jewelry making and flameworking. No experience is necessary, and all materials are provided. It’s a great, low-pressure way to explore a new art form.
Face to Face Speaker Series: Cynthia Erivo
Wake Forest University’s super-reputable Face to Face Speaker Series brings us an evening with Cynthia Erivo on April 15, 2026 at 7:30 PM at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. This three-time Academy Award nominated star of “Wicked” is a total rock star for social change, and her fearless voice for women and people of color has raised the bar for the arts.

In Full Bloom Garden Tour
Nature lovers and garden enthusiasts are going to want to get out to “In Full Bloom: Tour of Gardens Reimagined, Reinvigorated, Renewed” on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Garden Club Council of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County has put this biennial tour together so that we can all come and see some of Winston-Salem’s most amazing private gardens.
All proceeds benefit the Garden Club Council’s Community Grants program, which supports green spaces and environmental education throughout our community.
This event celebrates the beauty of nature and great design, while showcasing the incredible gardening talent in our area. Plus, it’s a great excuse to get out and check out some of the amazing gardens in our community at the peak of their springtime glory.
Piedmont Opera’s “Carmen”
If opera is your thing, then you need to come see Piedmont Opera’s production of Bizet’s “Carmen” from March 27-29, 2026 at High Point Theatre. This classic tale of a feisty young woman in Seville, Spain has drama, passion and some of the most recognizable tunes in all of opera – like the Habanera and Toreador Song.
This passionate new staging is a first for High Point Theatre and features custom production design in collaboration with Knoxville Opera. Don’t miss out on this chance to see one of the greatest works of opera brought to life in a whole new way.
